ImpactLeader launches book on Women's Day

Our Inclusion Leader, Noorzia Afridi is launching her first book 'The power is YOU, An odyssey towards self-empowerment' on March 8th, not accidentally International Women's Day. Noorzia is a Human Rights Activist from Pakistan and worked together with our International Leader Saskia Harkema to write down her life story.

The book shares the life story of Noorzia Afridi who comes from a remote tribal area in Pakistan, next to the border of Afghanistan. There she fought for her right to an education, which is denied to women. She also was forced to marry as a child, which she refused. In 2008 she set up a foundation, SAWERA, to fight for women's empowerment. She has won many prizes for her work. When the Taliban discovered she was doing this work with women, she became a target and lost many family members as a consequence.

Her story inspired both writers to develop a method to empower other women. With the lotus flower as a metaphor, they describe the odyssey to self-empowerment in five stages. Women can use the book as a personal guide to empower themselves. Noorzia and Saskia will also be training women offline and online across the globe.

The book is available online as Paperback or e-Book.

Working with Partners on new cooperation

Empowering Youth at the fringes of Europe In the first quarter of the year, we have been working with three partners to develop a program on empowering youth that live in border areas. The good thing was that one of our partners had found a way to co-fund the idea we had  in 2022 through the EU's Erasmus+ program . This gave a us a clear deadline to work on for 22 March 2023.  Erasmus+ proposal: FRINGE-ACT And Yes! we submitted our plan in time, and we think we found a tantalizing acronym 'FRINGE-ACT' for our project that symbolises the core of our idea; acting with our empowerment and entrepreneurship program in border regions. Through interaction with organisations that operate in border areas we realised that our program has real value to offer in specifically that context. Together with Changemakers4all from North-Macedonia, Market Leader from Turkey and Stichting International Youth Bridges we gave further shape to the initial idea to use our Impactleaders program to

Creating a fairer world for future generations

For the occasion of International Day of Human Rights 2022, Faces of Change foundation and ImpactLeaders international organized an event in Utrecht, The Netherlands. The keynote speaker was Jessica Lockhart, CEO and Founder of the International Institute of Humanology . The title of her presentation was ‘I have a dream too’.  Jessica Lockhart took us on a journey to understand her dream of a fair and peaceful world. She is convinced her dream can be realised, because; peace starts with us, so we can do it. But how can we become peacebuilders? The 'narrative of war' is so mainstream, and we have learned to believe it is justifiable to use violence to resolve a conflict. It all starts with our beliefs. Our beliefs, which we learned through our education and upbringing, somehow teach us that when there is a conflict, the best solution supposedly is to intervene through aggression and retaliation. We can see how well that has worked in the past centuries. If we realise that it al
