Peace & Impact Talk - Empowerment of Refugees to make them shine

On 16 July 2021 we'll have a Peace & Impact Talk in preparation of World Refugee Day 2021 with the theme 'Together we Heal, Learn and Shine'. We cooperate with Movisie that choose the theme for his Peace & Impact Talk. Together with Movisie, experts and newcomers settled in The Netherlands we'll discuss how we can develop sustainable models of empowerment of refugees. We aim to come up with practical approaches to accelerate integration into society and the labor market.

ImpactLeader launches book on Women's Day

Our Inclusion Leader, Noorzia Afridi is launching her first book 'The power is YOU, An odyssey towards self-empowerment' on March 8th, not accidentally International Women's Day. Noorzia is a Human Rights Activist from Pakistan and worked together with our International Leader Saskia Harkema to write down her life story. The book shares the life story of Noorzia Afridi who comes from a remote tribal area in Pakistan, next to the border of Afghanistan. There she fought for her right to an education, which is denied to women. She also was forced to marry as a child, which she refused. In 2008 she set up a foundation, SAWERA, to fight for women's empowerment. She has won many prizes for her work. When the Taliban discovered she was doing this work with women, she became a target and lost many family members as a consequence. Pilot Social Impact & Entrepreneurship training delivers on promise

In November 2019 the Social Impact & Entrepreneurship Program was launched at The Alchemist in Utrecht after a successful try-our in Gaziantep (Turkey) in July 2019. Migrants, students, entrepreneurs and job seekers with a great diversity in terms of cultural background, context and ethnicity participated in this 4 days program. All had in common that they want to develop a meaningful purpose and become impact makers. Participants from The Netherlands, Yemen, Zambia, Brazil, Syria, Pakistan and Iran worked successfully together and learned from each others perspectives and how to navigate in difficult times. Most of them are having or have had higher education. The program had consisted of two pillars: personal leadership development and social entrepreneurship.
